Karen H. Allen, age 73, entered into rest April 4, 2016 at Tallahassee Memorial Medical Center. She was a native of Lampertheim, Germany and had lived in Tallahassee since she was 9 years old. Karen was retired with 30 years of service at the Leon County Sheriffs Office, where she had served as the Executive Assistant to Sheriffs Eddie Boone, Larry Campbell, Rob Swearingen and Mike Wood. In 2009 she was the first recipient of the Administrative Executive Assistant Award, for her excellent work ethic and the ability to go above and beyond whenever necessary. Karen was an avid supporter and fan of FSU sports and the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Katie Merithew; husband, James Allen and her son, Jason "Big J" Allen. Survivors include son Jimmy Allen and his wife Dorothy; granddaughter, Shelby Allen and grandson Luke Allen. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016 at Thomasville Road Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch.
